Asta-Maries 24 Hour Race 2025
– An ultra-race in the heart of Copenhagen

With its location in one of the lively and beautiful oases of Copenhagen, Asta-Maries 24-Hour Race offers a challenging ultramarathon with a unique urban atmosphere.

Race format and distances

The race offers several different formats, so both experienced ultra-runners and those who want to try their hand at longer distances can participate. Participants can choose between:

- 6 hour race – Perfect for those who want to try their hand at ultra-running, but still want a manageable distance.

- 12 hour race – A medium-long ultra-distance race where endurance and strategy become crucial.

- 24 hour race – The ultimate test of physical and mental strength, where it is about running as far as possible within 24 hours.
- 100 km race – A classic ultra-distance race, where the goal is to complete 100 km in the shortest possible time

- Relay – There is an opportunity to run a relay on the 12 and 24 hour distances

The race holds the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) Bronze label. The rules for the bronze label are clear:

  • No pacing
  • No assistance outside the aid station
  • No electronic communication outside the aid station – in practice, this means no use of mobile phones on the course and no headphones, as we cannot tell if you are listening to music or being coached by a trainer.

It is possible to participate outside the bronze label, but by doing so, you forfeit the right to podium placement, though you are allowed to run with music in your ears. The difference between runners will be marked on their bib numbers.

New in 2025

In 2025 we also offer new opportunities in the form of 2, 3 or 4 x marathons, as well as the night race CPH ALL NIGHT on 6 and 12 hours

The route and surroundings

The race is normally held on a circular route around Sortedam Sø in Copenhagen.

NOTE!!! IN 2025 THE RACE WILL BE RUN AT AMAGER STRANDPARK! (due to renovation at Sortedams Sø)

Each lap is approximately 2 km, which allows runners to keep track of their distances and pace.

The central location provides a fantastic atmosphere with support from spectators, and runners will have the opportunity to experience both day and night races in a beautiful, urban natural setting.

Aid Stations:

We will set up a well-stocked aid station at the start/finish of the course. The station will offer a variety of refreshments, including:

- Water
- Energy drinks
- Cola
- Saltstick
- Fruit
- Salted peanuts
- Various candies

For environmental reasons, you will be provided with a hard plastic cup, which you can use throughout the race. The cup must be placed in a holder with numbers so that you can easily find it again.

There will be tables available where you can set up your own personal supplies.

Timing and Results:

Electronic timing with a chip will be used. The race can be followed live here, and a results list will be available afterward.
